From the 18th to the 28th of April, our team hit the road and headed down to the iconic Bells Beach to cater for our 11th year at the Rip Curl Pro surfing competition.
Preparation for Bells began months in advance, when Jay and Ryan sat down to plan the event catering menu, review inventory, and organise deliveries. Ryan focused on menu styling and design, and coordinated staff rosters, while Dave carried out full maintenance checks on our food trucks. From produce to logistics, every detail was carefully planned to ensure a seamless experience once we were on site.
Two days before the event kicked off, Ryan, Dave, and Jez bumped in with two fully loaded trucks and got straight to work setting up for what we knew would be an intense and exciting week. Back at base, the rest of the crew were busy rounding up all the other necessities. Laundry detergent, a giant jar of paprika and a million tea towels…

Before the sun came up on Easter Friday, we were already on the road, lukewarm coffee in hand, making our way down to Bells for day one of service. As predicted, it didn’t take long before the call was made and it was on! Service throughout the day came in hot and fast. While our front of house crew were keeping things moving and taking orders left right and centre. Behind the scenes, our back of house team were flat out, cooking, restocking and prepping. After a long first day, we packed down, jumped in the car, and headed back to our home for the week in Torquay. It was time for a few well earned beers and a chance to reflect on the massive day we’d just pulled off.
The next ten days flew by in a blur of early mornings, late nights and plenty of life advice. As our first crew wrapped things up and headed off home, the second team rolled in, ready to keep things going strong for the final stretch of the competition.

When the swells were low and the competition was called off for the day, the crew made the most of the downtime. We explored the local neighbourhoods, took dips at the beach, explored the local markets, and, of course, indulged in Dooley’s multi award winning ice cream.
Our 11th year at the Rip Curl Pro Bells beach was one of our best yet! It was a massive team effort, full of blood, sweat and tears but we couldn’t be prouder of our crew and all the hard work they put in help make this event happen. Until next year, thank you for having us!
