Weekend Wedding at Camp Kangaroobie

At the start of March, our team of 10, including chefs, waitstaff, and bar staff, ventured down to Princeton to cater a weekend wedding celebration. After a scenic 3-hour drive, we made a quick stop to stretch our legs and take in the stunning views of the 12 Apostles, which was just a short drive from the venue.

Arriving at Camp Kangaroobie, we were instantly captivated by the beauty of the venue. With a history dating back over 150 years, it had a vintage charm that set the perfect tone for the wedding. Set on 2,500 acres of lush coastal farmland, it was an ideal location for a rustic, DIY farm-style wedding. With over 160 guests staying on-site over the weekend, we were excited to get the party started!

On the day of the wedding, the festivities kicked off with roaming canapés, followed by a sit-down shared plate dinner later in the evening. We were also running the bar with our BYO bar package.

Our wandering entrée menu consisted of our classic bruschetta, potato latkes, cured rainbow trout, and chicken street tacos. These items were carefully selected to give guests a light bite post ceremony, designed to be enjoyed standing up with a drink in hand.

For dinner, guests enjoyed house-baked focaccia with a selection of our house-made butters to start. For the main course, they had whole baked line-caught snapper, smoked brisket, flame-grilled chicken skewers, a dish of roasted vegetables, and sides of beetroot and feta salad, and rocket and pecorino salad.

The food and drinks were a hit with all the guests but the party didn’t stop there. After a fun and vibrant evening, everyone stayed the night, and we treated them to toasties for brunch the next day. To finish off the weekend, we served up a taco banquet dinner, which was the perfect way to close out the celebrations.

The weather was absolutely perfect, the venue was stunning, and the guests were incredibly warm and welcoming. We couldn’t have asked for a more spectacular event. Callan and Steph’s wedding was a true celebration of love, friendship, and family, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Victoria’s coastline. It really felt like a festival weekend where everyone had a chance to unwind, have fun, and enjoy each other’s company while escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

It was a pleasure for our team to be part of such a special event, and we’re grateful to have played a role in making the wedding weekend so memorable.
